The nose is warm, fragrant, and elegantly mature. It opens with aromas of baked apple tart, poached pear, and golden sultanas, followed by notes of old oak furniture, dried orange peel, and cinnamon-dusted pastry. There’s a soft nuttiness—hazelnut and almond praline—woven with faint leather, beeswax, and calvados rancio, giving it a slightly oxidative, Cognac-like depth. On the palate, it’s silky and layered, offering flavors of caramelised apple, fruit compote, and spiced raisin cake. The oak is present but refined, delivering tones of cedarwood, clove, and polished tannins, while the fruit stays bright and expressive. Mid-palate, a hint of vanilla custard and black tea emerges, wrapped in a warming, spirit-forward backbone. The finish is long, dry, and contemplative—lingering with apple peel, dried fig, nutmeg, and soft leathery spice, tapering off gently with echoes of orchard earth and antique wood.
