The nose is dense and rich, kicking off with notes of baked pineapple, lemon peel, and stewed orchard fruit, underpinned by sulphury struck match, charred oak, and linseed oil. There’s a hint of malted barley and beeswax, mingling with faint herbal tones like bay leaf and chamomile. It’s both fruity and funky in equal measure. On the palate, the whisky is full-bodied and textured, with a chewy weight. Flavours of tropical fruit salad (grilled mango, papaya), toasted nuts, and brown sugar swirl in, accompanied by the hallmark Craigellachie flinty, meaty sulphur note. There’s also a vein of spiced apple compote, vanilla pod, and earthy malt, balanced with dry wood spice and a hint of char. The finish is medium-long and satisfying, fading with echoes of barley grist, waxy citrus peel, soft smoke, and toasted spice—with a faint metallic tang that adds to its industrial character.
