The Destillerie Ralf Hauer 4 Year Old opens with a crisp, clean nose that balances fresh orchard fruits with creamy, cereal-rich malt. Green apple, pear drops, and lemon peel emerge first, followed by vanilla custard, puffed rice, and a touch of almond marzipan. A faint herbal edge—think lemon balm and mint—adds freshness, while underlying notes of soft oak and pastry dough provide a comforting base. On the palate, the whisky is smooth and delicate, with a rounded mouthfeel. Initial sweetness from vanilla sponge and honey-glazed grains transitions into richer flavors of white peach, buttered toast, and hazelnut cream. There's a subtle floral note—perhaps elderflower or chamomile—that lifts the profile, along with a dash of white pepper and clove near the back. The finish is clean and medium in length, with lingering impressions of malted barley, lightly toasted wood, and a whisper of citrus zest. It closes with a dry but elegant balance of spice and fruit.
