A rich and fruity Speyside expression, the Glenrothes 14 Year Old from That Boutique-y Whisky Company showcases the distillery’s signature style: elegant, sherried, and gently spiced, with a touch of boutique personality shining through. Matured with care, this whisky strikes a balance between vibrant fruit and polished oak. The nose opens with notes of stewed apples, sultanas, and orange marmalade, layered over vanilla sponge cake and light cinnamon. There’s a soft, sherried richness reminiscent of fruit compote, alongside subtle hints of almond paste, oak polish, and nutmeg. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and rounded, offering flavours of toffee apples, dried apricots, and baked pear tart, interwoven with honeyed malt, clove, and a touch of roasted hazelnut. The spirit is clean and smooth, with a silky texture and excellent mid-palate balance. The finish is medium to long, fading gracefully through notes of spiced caramel, vanilla oak, and a soft echo of fruitcake and peppery warmth. It’s a classic Speyside dram with added depth and just enough spice to keep things interesting.
