Smooth, sweet, and surprisingly expressive, the Invergordon 13 Year Old from That Boutique-y Whisky Company showcases the often-underappreciated charm of well-aged single grain whisky. Distilled at one of Scotland’s few grain distilleries, this expression is light in body yet rich in flavour — perfect for those who appreciate silky texture and subtle complexity. The nose opens with inviting aromas of vanilla custard, toffee popcorn, and white chocolate, followed by hints of ripe banana, coconut cream, and a touch of sawdust oak. There’s a gentle, almost bourbon-like sweetness, backed by a clean cereal undertone. On the palate, it’s smooth and creamy, revealing layers of butterscotch, honey-glazed almonds, and caramelised pear. Notes of shortbread, light citrus oil, and a dusting of cinnamon add brightness and warmth. While lighter than a malt, the spirit shows excellent poise and balance, with a satisfying weight for its age. The finish is soft and medium in length, tapering with flavours of vanilla bean, light spice, and toasted oak shavings, leaving a gently sweet afterglow.
