The Ledaig 17 Year Old – Batch 7 from That Boutique‑y Whisky Company is a maritime, peat‑rich Island single malt with a bold yet layered personality. On the nose, waves of campfire peat smoke roll in alongside charred driftwood and roasted barley, underpinned by a warm baked‑apple sweetness and hints of peach pastry. There’s a faint heather honey and beeswax note that softens the briny, coastal edge. The palate is oily and full‑bodied, delivering an interplay of smoked malt, salted butter, and seaweed brine. As it develops, flashes of brown sugar, zesty lemon peel, and an unexpected pop of fizzy strawberry candy brighten the smoky, savoury base. The finish is long, earthy, and lingering, with embers of peat and maritime salinity holding steady until the final fade. Medicinal smoke nuances weave through the aftertaste, leaving a memory of sea air and smouldering coals.
