Understated and quietly complex, the Macduff 21 Year Old – Batch 7 from That Boutique-y Whisky Company is a mature Highland single malt that marries coastal freshness with orchard fruit charm and gentle oak spice. Known commercially for its “Glen Deveron” releases, Macduff’s distillate ages beautifully — especially when allowed to develop in subtle, well-balanced casks like this one. The nose opens with elegant layers of baked apple, lemon curd, and soft vanilla cream, followed by hints of toffee, grated ginger, and sea breeze salinity. A whisper of almond skin, wet stone, and herbal tea adds a touch of maritime complexity. On the palate, it’s smooth, refined, and slightly waxy, offering flavours of pear tart, honeycomb, and oak spice. Mid-palate brings out notes of orange peel, light malt loaf, and a hint of white pepper. The coastal influence is gentle — enhancing freshness rather than overpowering with salt or smoke. The finish is medium to long, clean and mineralic — lingering with flavours of vanilla pod, green tea, and faded orchard fruit, leaving a soft, contemplative dryness.
