The nose leaps from the glass with classic rye vibrancy: cracked black pepper, spearmint, and toasted caraway, followed by green apple skin, rye bread crust, and lemon oil. There’s a youthful freshness with a slight herbal snap—dill, pine, and chamomile—and a touch of vanilla and raw honey in the background. On the palate, it’s sharp, spicy, and expressive. Waves of peppermint, clove, and ginger snap hit first, layered over a chewy base of toasted grain, brown sugar, and burnt orange peel. The mouthfeel is bold and oily, with a drying grip and a slightly tannic edge that reflects its youth and new oak influence. The finish is medium-length, spicy and dry—lingering with notes of rye spice, anise, and herbal bitters, along with a dash of white pepper and menthol.
