The nose is dry, aromatic, and evocative of the desert. It opens with notes of mesquite smoke, sun-dried wood, and cracked leather, backed by toasted malt, cacao husk, and roasted pecans. Hints of burnt citrus peel, saddle soap, and desert herbs (like sagebrush) rise beneath the smoke, creating a complex and earthy profile. On the palate, it’s robust, spicy, and slightly tannic. Flavours of dark toffee, smoked almonds, and peppered jerky dominate, along with charred vanilla, green chili warmth, and black tea bitterness. The mesquite smoke is more herbal and dry than peated Scotch—adding structure and savory intensity rather than sweetness. A touch of honeyed malt and dried fig softens the mid-palate. The finish is medium-long, dry, and smoky—fading into notes of dusty oak, cigar box, cocoa nibs, and a lingering ember-like heat.
