Vibrant, malty, and full of youthful promise, the Cotswolds 3 Year Old from That Boutique-y Whisky Company captures the early spirit of one of England’s leading new-wave distilleries. Though young in years, this whisky punches well above its age with bold flavours, a rich mouthfeel, and remarkable complexity thanks to quality cask selection and meticulous production. The nose bursts with fresh honeyed barley, orange marmalade, and vanilla fudge, followed by floral notes of chamomile and rose petals, and a hint of clove-spiced apple pie. There’s an underlying brightness — citrus-forward and slightly herbaceous — that reflects its youthful energy. On the palate, it’s oily and textured, with flavours of brioche, steamed pudding, and zesty lemon curd, evolving into white pepper, ginger snaps, and a touch of oak char. The richness from STR (shaved, toasted, re-charred) red wine casks or ex-bourbon wood may be apparent in notes of red fruit compote and baking spices.The finish is medium-long and warming, with vanilla bean, soft cinnamon, grapefruit peel, and a gentle malty trail that brings you back for another sip.
