A quietly majestic dram from an undisclosed Speyside distillery, the Speyside #4 26 Year Old by That Boutique-y Whisky Company is a beautifully mature single malt that speaks in soft tones but carries deep complexity. With over a quarter-century in oak, this whisky exudes refinement, subtlety, and a graceful evolution of Speyside character. The nose is elegant and layered — opening with dried orchard fruits like apple rings and pear chips, followed by notes of honeyed oats, vanilla sponge, and a hint of polished antique wood. Soft traces of almond pastry, lemon peel, and white flowers add a refined and nostalgic charm. On the palate, it’s smooth and contemplative. Flavours of baked apricot, malted barley, and caramel cream unfold gently, enriched by aged oak, tea biscuits, and a whisper of cinnamon. There’s a silkiness to the texture, with each sip revealing more: subtle tobacco leaf, heather honey, and the faintest trace of waxed citrus. The finish is long and quiet — a soft glow of vanilla pod, light spice, and fading fruit sweetness, with a delicate balance of oak tannin and warmth. It’s a whisky that rewards slow sipping and quiet reflection — a Speyside classic with understated elegance and immense character.
