A youthful yet flavour-packed dram, the Speyside #7 9 Year Old from That Boutique-y Whisky Company captures the energy and fruity brightness that define modern Speyside single malts. Though its distillery remains unnamed, the whisky inside speaks with a clear Speyside accent — orchard-fresh, lightly spiced, and malt-driven. The nose is vibrant and appealing, offering green apples, pear drops, and barley sugar, followed by softer notes of vanilla pods, honeysuckle, and a touch of lemon sherbet. There’s a faint herbal edge, giving it freshness and lift. On the palate, it’s crisp and youthful, yet well-composed. Flavours of apple pie, malted biscuits, and citrus zest mingle with hints of white pepper, light toffee, and almond cream. The mouthfeel is clean and lightly waxy, giving just enough grip to carry the youthful brightness. The finish is medium in length, drying gently with lingering notes of vanilla malt, apple skin, and a dusting of baking spice. It’s a confident young whisky — uncomplicated, refreshing, and a great everyday sipper for those who enjoy Speyside’s lighter, fruit-forward profile.
