Spreewood 2 Year Old bursts out of the glass with bright, vibrant aromatics that showcase its youth and rye-forward character. The nose is lively—cracked black pepper, fresh rye bread, and lemon zest leap forward, supported by hints of caraway seed, green apple skin, and a delicate touch of vanilla from the cask. There’s also a faint herbal freshness reminiscent of wild fennel or dill. On the palate, the whisky is energetic, spicy, and delightfully grainy. Classic rye spice—white pepper, anise, and clove—drives the flavor profile, softened by subtle caramel sweetness and a creamy malt base. Notes of cinnamon toast, dark honey, and orange peel emerge mid-palate, creating a balance between spice, grain, and wood. The texture is slightly oily, with youthful bite but no harshness. The finish is crisp and medium-length, with lingering rye spice, toasted oak, and a faint tang of citrus pith. A dry, herbal snap at the end leaves the palate clean and ready for another sip.
