Rich, nutty, and unmistakably Speyside, the Strathisla 10 Year Old from That Boutique-y Whisky Company captures the classic character of one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries. Known as a key malt in the Chivas Regal blend, this independently bottled single malt lets Strathisla’s full personality shine — robust, sherried, and charmingly old-school. The nose opens with inviting aromas of raisin-studded fruitcake, toffee apples, and walnut shells, followed by subtler hints of dried apricot, malt loaf, and dusty cocoa. A soft layer of sherry spice — cinnamon and nutmeg — adds warmth and depth. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and rounded, with flavours of fig jam, baked pear, and demerara sugar, underpinned by leather, dark honey, and a gentle thread of oak tannin. There’s a hint of rustic charm — slightly earthy, slightly spicy — that gives it backbone beyond the fruit. The finish is medium to long, tapering with notes of cocoa nibs, soft clove, and a lasting impression of fruit-and-nut chocolate bar and sherry-seasoned oak.
